Seeraga Samba, small grain rice that takes its name from jeera ( Cumin ) (seeragam in Tamil), ‘samba’ is not referred to the Brazilian dance instead to the season (typically August to January) when it is grown. Refers. This small grain rice was used traditionally for biryani in south India It might have a lower yield than most modern rice variety but Seeraga Samba fetches a higher price than all other varieties of rice from in south India.
